Events In & Around Inverness & The Highlands
Below are some of the main Inverness Events that are scheduled for 2012 and 2013 including the First Monster Race, Loch Ness Marathon, Inverness Highland Games and the Scottish Open Golf Championship.
25th August 2012: Glenurquhart Highland Games at Blairbeg Park, Drumnadrochit, Loch Ness another popular games.
4th – 9th September 2012: Nairn Book & Arts Festival. Nairn’s celebration of literature, drama, art, film and music beside the Moray Firth.
7th -15th September 2012: Blas Music Festival. Check out the website to see venue and performers.
29th September – 14 October 2012: Highland Archaeology Fortnight – events and seminars throughout the region.
30th September 2012: Loch Ness Marathon plus 5K and 10K River Ness fun runs. The Baxters Loch Ness Marathon takes place along the shores of Loch Ness. Book accommodation early as everywhere gets booked up quickly.
15th – 19th October 2012: Blazin’ in Beauly music festival. Blazin’ in Beauly was started by the band Blazin’ Fiddles in the historic village of Beauly, 15 miles west of Inverness. With the aim of being “much more than a fiddle school” the intention of the week in Beauly is to immerse people in the music of the Highlands and Islands.
5th November 2012: Civic Bonfire And Fireworks Display. The Highland’s biggest bonfire with a 20 minutes fireworks display and free admission.
17th November 2012 - Christmas Lights Switch On. Christmas Carols and Traditional Scottish music from 5.30pm against the backdrop of a spectacular projection show which brings the Town House to life with animations just in time for the arrival of Santa Claus.
8th & 9th December 2012: Rudolph’s Winter Wonderland. Rudolph and his Reindeer friends bring a touch of Christman magic to the Highland Capital.
31 December 2012: The Red Hot Highland Fling. See in 2013 at The Northern Meeting Park with a spectacular concert featuring various artists.
Events 2013
June 2013: Rock Ness Concert at Dores Inverness. Music festival on the shores of Loch Ness.
July 2013 - Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open Golf Championship 2012 will be held at Castle Stuart Golf Links.
July 2013: Inverness Highland Games in Northern Meeting Park is a popular event for locals and tourists alike and is renowned for being the best of the Highland games.
August 2013: Black Isle Show at Mannsfield Showground, Muir of Ord is the biggest agricultural show in the North of Scotland and is hugely popular. Book accommodation early.
August 2013: Highland Field Sports Fair at Moy Hall The fair offers entertainment and activity for old and young. Largely field sports activities but also competitions with fly casting, gun dog handling and clay pigeon shooting.
August 2013: Belladrum – Tartan Heart Festival on the Belladrum Estate near Beauly. The event is an outdoor music festival for all the family with rock, country, blues and world music.
