If you are spending time in the Highlands of Scotland, Inverness is an excellent place to base yourself as it is centrally located and gives easy access to all of the major tourist locations and attractions in under 2.5 hours. If visiting from abroad you need not worry about driving in the Highlands as the roads are fairly quiet and your days out exploring will be stress free.
After an enjoyable day out you will want to refresh yourself at your chosen hotel or B&B before venturing out into Inverness City Centre for a meal, a drink and some entertainment. Inverness has some great restaurants including The Mustard Seed, The Kitchen, Café 1, Rocpool and Contrast. The Kitchen is a glass fronted building set out on 3 floors on the banks of the River Ness giving great views of Inverness Castle especially out of the summer months when the nights are darker and the castle and bridge are lit up. A couple of bars to check out are Johnny Foxes who also serve great food and Hootananny for the best in live music and a bit of a twist serving top quality Thai food.
If you would like to take in some entertainment before or after your meal there are various options with one or two being maybe a little unexpected. Happy Tours offer two City Centre walking tours provided by the entertaining and knowledgeable Cameron. The first is a historic tour giving information about the landmarks and buildings in Inverness and the second is a Crime & Punishment tour describing the bloody and ghoulish side of Inverness. Happy Tours also provide “Rickshaw” rides around the city.
For those that prefer the theatre, Eden Court always has a great variety of entertainment to suit all tastes whether it be films, plays, comedy, dance, exhibitions, classes or festivals. If comedy is your preference Inverness is now proudly attracting a wealth of top comedians with favourites like Jimmy Carr, Jason Manford and Alan Carr appearing.
If the fresh Highland air doesn’t send you to your bed early you can experience the nightclubs on offer including The Den, G’s and Hush. Whatever you decide to do during your stay you can be sure to expect great evening entertainment in Inverness.Share
